Eashing Mill, Surrey, c1830
![]() Eashing Mill, on the River Wey near Godalming, from an engraving published in 1849 but based on a sketch, which probably dates from about 1830, by Waring Kidd, a Godalming naturalist known as "Rusticus". The view is from the north-east looking upstream. The paper mill with its drying loft is on the right and the mill house, rag house and a corn mill are on the left. The mill was rebuilt as a machine paper mill in 1832 but this closed 1899. The buildings continued to be used for industrial purposes until recently but the site has now been redeveloped into office accommodation. (Courtesy John Janaway) |
