Papier-mache bedstead, described by The Art Journal in 1862 as Betteridge & Co's "Piece de resistance: designed by Mr Fitzcook, (it) is perhaps the nearest approach to excellence that has yet been attained in this material, the ornamentation being as elaborate as is usually looked for in articles of this fabric yet sufficiently subdued and in very good harmony".
